The Eden Central School District saved $15,178 last year by buying its gas through a regional cooperative instead of buying it from National Fuel, board members learned Wednesday.
Business Administrator Elizabeth Hassett reported the savings at the School Board meeting.
In another matter, she said the district is waiting for $744,000 in delayed school tax relief money from the state, with it coming during four intervals between mid-October and January. "That's the bad part. It does impact our cash flow," she said. "We're hoping not to have to borrow."
In all, 56 percent of property in the district was eligible for school tax relief this year, she said, amounting to 2,630 parcels of the 4,658 total in the district.
In other business, the board voted to share the cost of hiring a diving coach for girls swimming to be shared by Eden, Hamburg and Orchard Park.
