Esther G. Leadley of Pavilion, who was appointed to represent Alexander, Bethany and Pavilion on the County Legislature to succeed new Assemblyman Daniel J. Burling, won the key Republican line to retain the seat in November.

She defeated William J. Wagner of Alexander, 238-200. Mrs. Leadley has no opponent in November.

In other races:


In the only other countywide race, LaVern C. Falcone of Le Roy, a deputy sheriff and mortician, won 911 votes to 557 for Jack E. Taylor of Batavia for the GOP line for coroner. Falcone needed to win to be on the November ballot. Taylor is the Conservative and Independent parties' candidate. The Democrats have nominated Terry Thompson of Alabama.


James W. Lamkin received 188 votes to win the GOP line for town justice. He defeated David W. George, who got 39 votes, and Charles L. Durkee with 99.

Donald L. Cudney beat Harold W. Austin, 215-122, to win the Republican line for superintendent of highways.
