JURY SELECTION STARTS IN TRIAL IN SLAYING AT PARTY

Jury selection began Tuesday in Craig Griggs' trial in the death of one man and the shooting of another during a party.

Griggs, 21, of East Utica Street is charged with second-degree murder, felony assault and weapons possession in the fatal shooting of Tyshon Bryant, 18, and wounding of Sh'mere Workman, 18.

Both were shot during a party Workman was holding Jan. 31, 1998, in his Florida Street home.

Bryant, of Humboldt Parkway, was hit in the chest, while Workman was shot in a leg.

Griggs has been jailed since last September.

Erie County Judge Michael F. Pietruszka is presiding over the trial.
