Edward W. "Bunny" Durnell Jr., 51, an employee of Alltel, died Tuesday (Sept. 14, 1999) in his Jamestown home after a long illness.
A Jamestown resident most of his life, Durnell had been employed for 20 years in the building maintenance department at Alltel in Jamestown. Earlier, he worked for the former Rowan Concrete.
A veteran, he served in the Air Force for more than four years during the Vietnam War. He also served in the Army Reserve for 14 years, retiring as a staff sergeant. He was a graduate of Randolph Central School.
Durnell was a member of the Randolph American Legion and the War Vets Recreation Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Kathleen Whitehouse; two sons, Travis W. of Evansville, Ind., and Troy E. Durnell of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Tracey L. of West Seneca; his mother, Evelyn of Randolph; a stepdaughter, Holly J. Thompson; a stepson, Army Specialist Matthew J. Thompson of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; a brother, Mark of Randolph; two sisters, Connie Congdon of Kennedy and Patricia Cowen of Randolph; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. Third St., Jamestown.
