The Salamanca Central School Board will make several appointments today as it meets to organize for the new school year.
The school is operating under the direction of Interim Superintendent Ray Cenni as the School Board begins the process to select a new superintendent. John E. Hogle retired Sept. 2 as superintendent after 10 years.
Personnel items before the board include hiring elementary teachers Jennifer Jones for $25,500, Terra LaCroix for $25,500, Melinda Miller to teach speech and hearing to the handicapped for $28,900, Jennifer Whitcher as an elementary substitute teacher for $25,500, Kelly Reynolds as a part-time elementary teacher for $12,750, Tracy L. Nugent as a teacher assistant for $12,750, Shane E. Rinko as a teacher assistant for $22,950, and Kelly Reynolds as a part-time teacher aide for $4,004.
The board will also approve tax rates for various towns in the district in preparation for mailing the annual school tax notices.
New rates per $1,000 of assessment are City of Salamanca, $42.05; towns of Salamanca, $33.75, Little Valley, $12.27, Napoli, $14.32, Great Valley, $304.30, and Carrollton, $13.03.
Other business will include approval of the annual contract with Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES for services for the school year for $2.2 million.
Also, BOCES will pay the district $96,000 for using 32 classrooms in the three city schools.
