REAL-LIFE WAR STORIES will be swapped later this month when members of Army Company K, 97th Division, 387th Regiment, hold their reunion in Buffalo. About a dozen members of the unit, which served in Germany during World War II, are expected for the event Sept. 29 to Oct. 2. The host is Donald Gagnon of the City of Tonawanda, a member of the unit. A highlight will be a tour of the Buffalo Naval and Military Park on Oct. 2. . . .

CHOWDER SALE -- Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4809 South Newstead Road, Akron, is having a chowder sale beginning at noon Saturday. Visitors can enjoy a bowl of chowder in Fellowship Hall. Beverages and homemade pies and cakes will be available, too. Chowder can be bought by the quart or gallon to take home, but purchasers must furnish their own containers.

Meanwhile, the Ladies of Trinity will be holding a "Country Kitchen Mini-Bazaar" featuring canned goods, handcrafted items and baked goods, according to a note from Donna Kumpf. . . .

41ST TIME -- Amherst Presbyterian Church, 151 S. Youngs Road (across from the Erie Community College North Campus), will hold its 41st annual chicken barbecue, craft show and raffle from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $6.50 for adults and $3 for children, and includes chicken, baked potato, salad, roll, pie and beverage. Adult takeout orders will cost $7. . . .
