Lackawanna police early today chased and caught a Medina man accused of stealing more than $4,000 worth of tools in a burglary at a North Steelawanna Avenue business.
Police later recovered impact wrenches, pneumatic jacks, air hammers and other tools from the trunk of the suspect's car, said Capt. Thomas Brooks, chief of detectives.
Police charged Dennis Smith, 35, with grand larceny and burglary, both felonies, Brooks said.
The incident began shortly before 2 a.m., when a deliveryman for Concrete Delivery Corp. saw someone loading the tools into a vehicle. Lackawanna Police Officers Gene Wheeler and Mark Geylon chased the vehicle into Buffalo, where they stopped the driver on Tifft Street.
