The man who robbed an Elmwood Avenue convenience store at gunpoint late last month is the subject of this week's Crime Stoppers search.

The robber broke the door glass as he entered We Never Close, 1054 Elmwood Ave., early on the morning of Aug. 31, authorities said. He pulled out what appeared to be a sawed-off rifle with a pistol grip and a banana clip, then demanded cash.

After he was given about $50, the robber fled west on Bird Avenue.

The robber was described by authorities as a black man, apparently in his 20s, about 5-feet-11 and 180 pounds, wearing a dark-colored sweat suit and a knit hat. Authorities said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
