Akron linebacker George Cameron, who had two sacks on the Zips' final defensive stand a team-high 11 tackles overall in Saturday's 17-10 victory over the University at Buffalo, was named Mid-American Conference Pepsi Defensive Player of the Week.

Among the nominees was UB linebacker Marcus Cole (Turner/Carroll), who had 10 tackles in his first start as well as two forced fumbles and a recovery, two tackles for loss and one sack.

Miami running back Travis Prentice was offensive player of the week, getting the nod over Akron quarterback Butchie Washington, who completed 13 of 16 pases and ran 19 yards for a touchdown.
