Joan E. Morgan of Rainbow Park, a former office manager for a labor union, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. She was 63.
Born Joan McCarthy in Batavia, she lived for many years in Newfane before moving to Ransomville eight years ago.
Mrs. Morgan worked for 21 years as office manager for Local 463, International Union of Operating Engineers, retiring in 1996.
Before that, she was a secretary for Beecher Brothers, Sanborn, and other local businesses.
Mrs. Morgan was a member of North Ridge United Methodist Church, Cambria, and sang in its choir.
She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 8438, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Newfane; the Niagara County Veterans of Foreign Wars Council and the 7th District of the VFW. She was also a former member of the Pekin Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed camping, singing, painting and bingo.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, James E.; three sons, Timothy of Wilson, James of Niagara Falls and Bruce of Virginia; a daughter, Dawn Wollaber of Newfane; two brothers, James McCarthy of Batavia and Richard McCarthy of Canyon Lake, Texas; her stepfather, Robert Kelly of Niagara Falls; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Pekin.
