The Board of Public Utilities has announced its annual fall cleanup will be held beginning Sunday.
BPU Communications Coordinator Sue Jones said residents whose garbage is normally picked up Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, should place cleanup items at the curb next Sunday. Anyone whose trash is picked up Thursday or Friday should place those items at the curb the following Sunday, Sept. 26.
Jones said items must weigh less than 40 pounds and be easily handled by one person. They can include clothes, dishes, glassware, pots and pans, toys, small appliances like toasters and portable TVs, wallpaper, carpet remnants, lawn furniture, and other items that can be disposed of at the county landfill.
Metal items, as well as yard waste and wood, can be taken to the Fluvanna Avenue Yard Waste Disposal site. The Yard Waste site is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
