David F.C. Hill Sr., 57, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, from injuries suffered Friday when he fell off the roof of his Willow Avenue home while doing repairs.
Hill, a member of the Cayuga Nation, was born in Ohsweken, Ont., and moved to Niagara Falls in 1946.
He worked for many years installing roofing and siding on homes and businesses in the Niagara Falls area. He was employed by West Roofing, Thompson Roofing and Maroon Home Improvements but was self-employed for the past several years. He worked as a general carpenter and did home improvements.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, the former Loretta Ferguson; three sons, David Jr., Wayne S. and Daniel; seven daughters, Peggy Ann Dikes of Mesa, Ariz., Sandra "Sophie" Thomas of Ohsweken, Debora Henderson, Patricia Minteer, Christine D., Irene S. and Sonia; a sister, I. Mildred of Ohsweken; 26 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 5180 Chew Road, Sanborn. Burial will be scheduled.
