After reading the articles concerning attorney Drew Tidwell, I really must respond. Regardless of all of the "good things" he ever did in his life, the fact still remains that he fled the scene of a fatal accident. The "good things" do not cancel out this despicable act.
When his turn came to do the right thing, Tidwell ran away like a coward. He didn't even try to assist Donald Freuhauf after he ran him down. He chose to save his own skin instead. It wasn't until the police began to close in that he decided to come forward and own up to what he did.
I don't feel that the loss of his license to practice law can even come close to the loss of Freuhauf's life. I do not know either of these families, but it is my opinion that Tidwell didn't lose that much considering that he alone is responsible for this tragedy and he is still alive.
A wise man once said: "The real measure of a person is not what they will do when others are looking, but rather what they will do when no one is looking." Tidwell has shown us all what he will do when no one is looking.
