DISABLED MAN ACCEPTS SETTLEMENT

Joseph P. Slike, permanently disabled when a construction company pickup truck rear-ended his car on Transit Road in Lancaster seven years ago, accepted a $950,000 insurance settlement as a Buffalo jury was about to consider his negligence case.

Attorney John J. Fromen Sr. said Slike, 60, of West Seneca, will get full payment of the settlement within three weeks from insurance carriers for the Arric Corp., a Lancaster construction company.

Fromen said Slike, an industrial products salesman, was driving to a business appointment when his car was rear-ended by an Arric pickup truck at about 8:40 a.m. June 1, 1992. he suffered severe back injuries, resulting in permanent pain that has left him unable to work, Fromen said.
