Occasional traffic delays are expected on the Peace Bridge during a three-week safety inspection project that begins on Monday.
"I would not expect severe delays, but there could be some delays during this period," a bridge supervisor said Saturday. "We will have people out directing traffic, and keeping it moving along as quickly as possible."
One lane of bridge traffic will be blocked from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day by a machine called the Bridgemaster, which is used to inspect the deck and support beams of the bridge.
Instead of the usual configuration -- two lanes of traffic going in one direction, and one lane in the other direction -- the bridge will only have one lane of traffic going each way.
