Virginia J. Cleri, 70, a retired clerk at the Niagara County Department of Social Services, died unexpectedly Thursday (Sept. 9, 1999) in Lockport Memorial Hospital.
A native of Lockport, the former Virginia J. Strauss also formerly wrote Action Line and was a telephone operator at the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal. She also had been a secretary at the Case Boring Company, Gasport.
She was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed growing herbs and making dried flower arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Victor; two sons, Curt and Charles; three daughters, Carla Terryberry of New Castle, Ind., Claudia Perkins and Christa Ray; a brother, James Strauss; a sister, Roselyn White; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St. Burial will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
