The Hamlin Park neighborhood raised its profile Friday when a "Welcome to Hamlin Park" sign was dedicated at one of the major entry points to the area by city elected officials and community leaders.

The sign was unveiled at the corner of Main Street and Jefferson Avenue by Mayor Masiello, Masten Council Member Byron W. Brown, the Rev. Vincent Cooke, president of Canisius College, and Margaret Strassner, president of the Hamlin Park Community and Taxpayers Association.

The sign, paid for by the city, was described as a symbol of good will and cooperation between Canisius and its neighbors.
