Several persons were arrested across Ontario Thursday as the result of an 18-month investigation into a ring of drug and explosives sales by a Canadian motorcycle gang.

The Provincial Special Squad, formed last year under the direction of the Ontario Provincial Police and 17 other police agencies, conducted the undercover investigation into the activity of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gang in the Niagara Region and across Ontario that led to the arrests.

Niagara Regional Police reported Friday that 11 search warrants were executed in the Niagara Region and one in the metro Toronto area. During the investigation about 1,000 pounds of Tovex commercial high explosives were purchased by officers as part of the operation. A variety of drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, Percodan and ecstasy also were seized by police. The drugs were estimated to have a street value of $65,000.
