FREE SCREENINGS for cancer, high cholesterol, diabetes and other medical problems will be provided at the second annual Community Health Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Immaculate Conception School, 8791 S. Main St. (Route 62), in Eden.

The health fair is the brainchild of seven Registered Nurses concerned about community health, according to Kathy Kotwicki, R.N., chairwoman of this year's fair. Thirty organizations, including Roswell Park Cancer Institute and other health care providers, are supporting the fair. For more information, call 992-3089. . . .

ARTISANS will be demonstrating old-time skills, including blacksmithing and weaving, from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Cobblestone Society's annual Old Timers' Day at the Cobblestone Museum Grounds, Routes 98 and 104, in Childs, two miles north of Albion. Admission is $4 , but members and kids under 8 get in free. A historical marker will be placed at the Cobblestone Schoolhouse. Antiques will be appraised for a fee. There will be music, a petting zoo and food (not necessarily in that order). For more information, call 589-9013. . . .

A BENEFIT for David Ruda will be held from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Sept. 18, at the Lakeview Fire Hall, 2011 Lakeview Road (between Routes 5 and 20), in Lakeview. A donation of $20 will be collected at the door and includes pop, beer, munchies and entertainment.

Ruda is self-employed, married and has three children. He has renal cancer and faces a long term of treatments. He hasn't been able to work for three months.
