A cross-dresser who said he accidentally shot his wife in the face when he asked for help castrating himself drew a prison sentence of 4 to 12 years Thursday.
Bryan Woodall, 33, who wore women's clothing to his trial, was convicted of manslaughter in August and could have gotten up to 15 years in prison.
Police said he pointed a .38-caliber revolver at his wife's face March 11 as he was explaining how dangerous it was, and it discharged. Kristine Woodall, 32, found slumped on her bedroom floor, died the next day.
Police also found a plastic box containing medical supplies, including a scalpel, surgical clamps, a soldering iron and disinfectant.
