Jeff and Ward Burton, the Virginia brothers who finished 1-2 in last week's Southern 500 at Darlington, will start bumper to bumper again in tonight's Autolite Platinum 250 NASCAR Busch Grand National Series race (7:30, ESPN).
Jeff Burton, who led his brother across the finish line for the second time in the Winston Cup series last weekend, posted a fast lap of 121.984 mph to earn his first Busch Grand National pole of the season and seventh of his career.
"It's hard to tell a real good lap from a good lap. I'm pretty proud of this," Jeff Burton said. "When we qualify well, that's unusual."
Jeff Green, third in the driver standings, was second at 121.907 mph on the three-quarter-mile Richmond (Va.) International Raceway oval, and Ward Burton was third at 121.841 mph.
