The North Tonawanda Common Council has approved a request for city participation in a project by the North Tonawanda National Little League. League officials said they want to build a combination public restroom and grounds equipment storage area at Wheatfield Street and Stephen Sikora Drive.

The city will provide about $10,000 to install a water line and a sanitary sewer line to the new building. The league has estimated the building will cost about $35,000.

The Council approved final draft of a request for proposals from national contractors for private operation of city-owned wastewater and water department facilities. The request was drafted by Wastewater Superintendent Paul J. Drof and Water Department Superintendent Paul F. McDonough.

At the request of Alderwoman Cathleen G. Schwandt, the Council also asked the Niagara County Legislature for $20,000 to help restore the Veterans War Memorial in Brauer Park.
