MOUNT ST. MARY'S PLANS Y2K POWER-FAILURE DRILL

Will the Y2K bug shut off all the lights on New Year's Day?

Nobody's sure, but the administration at Mount St. Mary's Hospital isn't taking any chances.

The hospital will hold a Y2K power-failure drill from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday to make sure that its emergency power will take over if the bug bites at the beginning of 2000.

Officials suggested that visitors to Mount St. Mary's put off their visits until after 4 p.m. Thursday, so they won't be inconvenienced by the "blackout" test.
