The Village of Angola scheduled a public hearing on the use of next year's Community Development Block Grant funds for 8 p.m. Oct. 4 in Village Hall, 41 Commercial St.
Village officials said the hearing would provide an opportunity for citizens to express community development and housing needs and discuss possible projects or programs to meet those needs, especially projects that would benefit low- and moderate-income persons in the village.

Heard complaints from several residents who said they had problems with water in their basement due to an overflow from the water tower on Grove Street. Village officials said the problem was due to a faulty valve, which will be replaced. Until the part comes in, the village is turning off the valve each night at midnight, then reopening it each morning to avoid any further problems.
Authorized the purchase of a 1999 John Deere backhoe loader for $4,000 and a trade-in from Mecca-Kendall Corporation of Orchard Park.
Hired Daniel Bluff as a part-time police officer to replace Jeffrey Mayer, who resigned.
Hired Tina Kaminski of Angola as a water meter reader for the village, to fill the position left vacant by the resignation of Patricia Backert.
