FALLS SUICIDE IDENTIFIED AS CLARENCE MAN, 19

William Edwards, 19, of 4267 Trailing Drive, Clarence, was identified as the man whose body was recovered from the lower Niagara River near the American Falls Thursday, County Coroner James M. Joyce said Tuesday.

Edwards was identified by relatives after family members recognized tattoos on the body, Joyce said.

Edwards also was identified as the man who jumped into the river's upper rapids at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 27 off the pedestrian bridge connecting Prospect Park and Green Island and was swept over the American Falls, Joyce said.

Joyce ruled the death a suicide.
