Police arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly tried to get a woman friend to slit her wrists with him.
Officers Warren D. Hale and Kevin L. Schrader said Chad S. Bower, 26, was being physically held by Jenny R. Weston when they arrived at the Gabriel Drive residence the couple once shared. Ms. Weston said Bower, who was under a court order of protection, entered the home at 3 p.m. and they argued. She said he punched a hole in the kitchen wall and started looking for a kitchen knife sharp enough to commit suicide.
"Let's die together," he allegedly told her, adding, "We are soul mates."
Ms. Weston said Bower began to demonstrate how to slit her wrist with a knife. She didn't respond to his instructions, she said, so he picked her up in her chair and dropped it to the floor.
Lockport City Judge David R. Wendt ordered Bower held without bail pending a hearing Wednesday on felony and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and a misdemeanor count of menacing.
