A man was arrested in Police Headquarters Sunday evening after picking a fight with a couple as they swore out a complaint against him, according to police.
Clarence Middleton Jr., 25, of West Avenue was charged with two counts of harassment.
Officer Warren D. Hale said Tara B. Sweat of Spalding Street had come to the station to report that Middleton had harassed her when she went to his house to ask for money for school clothes for their child.
She said Middleton struck her on the head and shoved her out the door, almost knocking her down the steps. She and her husband, Chance Sweat, were at the police station filing a report when Middleton arrived with his mother, Liza Middleton.
Officers said that they instructed Middleton several times to wait outside the station but that he "went after Chance Sweat and started punching at him." Officers Hale and Rodney J. Peters separated the two men and arrested Middleton.
