Christine A. Jelks, 51, of Alexandria, Va., a former Buffalo resident, died Wednesday (Sept. 1, 1999) in Mount Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, after a long illness.
Born Christine Simms in Buffalo, she attended School 74 and Bennett High School.
She and Willie Jelks were married in 1974. They moved to Alexandria in the mid-1970s.
In Virginia, she was an office worker for many years for ADT Security.
She was a former member of St. Luke's AME Church.
Mrs. Jelks collected unusual salt and pepper shakers.
Survivors include her husband, Willie; and four sisters, Patricia L. Clinton Simms, Maxine Simms, Helen Taylor and Marquita Simms.
Services will be held Wednesday in Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Alexandria. Burial will be in Alexandria.
