Emergency demolition was requested for two East Side houses destroyed by fire during the weekend, fire officials said Sunday.
Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion but remained on duty Saturday night during a blaze reported at 10:19 p.m. at 101 Southampton St. Extra equipment and relief crews were required to put out the fire in the 2 1/2 -story structure that was also damaged by fire in 1998.
A blaze at 7:30 a.m. Sunday caused $20,000 damage to a 2 1/2 -story building at 329 Loepere St.
No cause was available for either fire, and no damage estimate for 101 Southampton, fire officials said. Both houses were reportedly vacant.
