A 22-year-old West Valley man received head injuries and broke his collarbone in a one-car accident early Saturday on County Road 32, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department said Sunday.

Frederick W. Bond III was traveling north on County Road 32 south of Thomas Corners Road about 1:21 a.m. when his 1984 Cadillac went off the right shoulder of the road, crossed into the opposite lane and off its shoulder, striking a large rock, deputies said.

Bond's vehicle then continued across the lawn of a residence, striking a tree on the property. He was taken to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville and later transferred to the Erie County Medical Center where he was in fair condition Sunday.

The accident remains under investigation.
