Bobbie Yvonne Currie, 60, a surgical technologist in Buffalo hospitals, died Wednesday (Sept. 1, 1999) in Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness.
Born Bobbie Whitely in Meridian, Miss., she moved to Buffalo with her family in 1943 and graduated from East High School.
For 36 years, she worked as a surgical technologist at Mercy Hospital, the former Deaconess Hospital and Buffalo General Hospital, where she was part of the heart team.
Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Ernie V.; two sons, Grady Lofton and Duane Lofton; four stepsons, Martin of Talladega, Ala., Ernie W., Markel and Emmanuel; three brothers, Ralph E. Whitely of Waterford, Mich., Joe R. Whitely and Dean A. Whitely; four sisters, Gwendolyn Kelley of Chicago, Ella Jean Morrison, Gladys Jean Hutcherson and Elizabeth Ann LaGrane; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday in St. John Baptist Church, 184 Goodell St., after a wake at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
