Ward Wattengel, 51, of North Tonawanda, a fourth-generation funeral director, died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) in an apparent drowning at a North Tonawanda marina.
Wattengel owned and operated Wattengel Funeral Home on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda.
He was a past president of the Erie and Niagara Funeral Directors Association, past president of the Lions Club of the Tonawandas, a member of the board of directors of DeGraff Memorial Hospital and was active in many other civic and fraternal organizations.
He is survived by his wife, the former Priscilla Pierce; a son, William Christian; two daughters, Lara and Meghan; and his mother, Mary, all of North Tonawanda.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church, Main and Tremont streets, North Tonawanda. Interment will be Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
