The Niagara County Board of Elections office at 59 Park Ave. will be open extra hours this week to accommodate absentee voters for the Sept. 14 primary election.

Commissioners Michael J. Norris and Judith M. Cirifalco said the office would remain open until 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

To be eligible for an absentee ballot, the applicant must expect to be out of the county or ill on primary election day, according to the commissioners. They said voters must appear in person and complete the necessary paperwork in order to cast their ballots.
