Finally, a News article talking about the stupidity of people who don't wear seat belts. Donn Esmonde's recent column should be mandatory reading for all families. While being sensitive to the feelings of the survivors of tragic crashes, Esmonde used real-life examples of the stupidity some people exhibit while settling into their vehicles, allowing children to ride without seat belts.
Many articles about traffic accidents fail to include the driving point that "none of the victims were wearing their seat belts." That's the real story. It's not whether they were traveling to church or the supermarket or wherever. It's whether they were wearing their seat belts. I applaud Esmonde's column. For the sake of all those "stupid" people who still don't get it, I wish The News would include this vital piece of information in all articles about traffic accidents.
