Brandt Jobe jumped to the front of a no-name leader board by shooting a first-round 8-under-par 63 at the $2.5 million Air Canada Championship in Surrey, British Columbia.
Peter Jacobsen, one of the only recognizable names among the leaders, is one stroke back. He has not won on the PGA Tour since 1995, when he claimed the Buick Invitational.
Jobe is two strokes better than Charles Raulerson, who has never finished better than 21st on the tour, and KevinPomArleau, who qualified for his first career PGA event on Monday. Phil Tataurangi and Kent Jones, who have combined to miss 29 of 40 cuts this season, are three shots off the pace with six golfers -- most notably Mark Calcavecchia and Carlos Franco -- four strokes off the pace.
