Remarketing Services of America Inc. has been named the 1999 Business of the Year by the Amherst Chamber of Commerce.
Founded eight years ago by partners Stuart H. Angert, Devon M. Cohen and Andrew J. Shaevel, RSA is an industry leader in strategic vehicle remarketing and lease maturity management
programs for banks, automotive manufacturers and other automotive finance institutions.
Located in the Audubon Industrial Park, the company has grown from three to 375 people. Over 150 new employees have been hired this year.
Colleen DiPirro, the Chamber's president and CEO, said the group selects a business each year that has made a significant contribution to Amherst and the Western New York region.
"The success that RSA has achieved is proof that it is possible for business to succeed and thrive in the Western New York marketplace," Ms. DiPirro said.
Canisius College to hear head of N.Y. Fed bank
William J. McDonough, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, will speak at Canisius College on Wednesday.
McDonough is also vice chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee, the group responsible for formulating the nation's monetary policy. He will discuss the economic conditions affect changes in interest rates.

Workshop set for new, expanded businesses
Individuals who are planning on starting or expanding a business are invited to participate in a workshop on Sept. 16.
The day-long program will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Central Library on Lafayette Square and the $20 fee will include a continental breakfast.
The workshop is sponsored by the Service Corps of Retired Executives, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library.
