Someone has donated $500,000 to the fund-raising arm of Niagara County Community College, but doesn't want to let anyone know his or her name.

The donation to the NCCC Foundation Inc. has increased the foundation's endowment to more than $2.2 million, Chairman David Chamberlain said Wednesday.

The donation is a remainder gift annuity trust, valued at $500,000, naming the NCCC Foundation Inc. as a beneficiary. It was given with the stipulation that the donor remain anonymous.

NCCC President and foundation Executive Director Antonette J. Cleveland said that it was the largest single gift ever made to the foundation in its 12-year history.

The foundation supports the school's Distinguished Student Scholarship Program, in addition to a number of other scholarships for NCCC students. Last school year, more than 120 scholarships were awarded.
