A memorial service for David W. Hagel, 82, a retired lab technician and butcher shop owner, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, 98 East Ave.
A native of Hamilton, Ont., he died Aug. 24, 1999, in his Rochester Road home.
In Hamilton, he had operated Hedden's Butcher Shop during the 1940s and 1950s. He later worked at Union Carbide in Niagara Falls and then was a lab technician at International Multi Foods in Lockport, retiring in 1980.
He was active in Masonic organizations and first joined in 1944 in Hamilton. He transferred to Newfane Lodge 947, F&AM, and was honored as a 50-year member in 1995. A member of the Scottish Rite of Lockport and Buffalo, he was instrumental in starting the semiannual pancake breakfasts sponsored by the Lockport Shrine Club. He was a member of Ismailia Temple, Buffalo.
He also was a member of the Old Guard of the Lockport Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife, the former Naomi Dick; two daughters, Beverly Woods of Hamilton, Ont., and Linda Yaciuk of Mississauga, Ont.; a stepson, David Dice of Massachusetts; a brother, Albert of Hamilton; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.
