Alfred "Kab" Kabasakalian, a retired Durez Plastics employee and husband of a North Tonawanda mayoral candidate, died Saturday (Aug. 28, 1999) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a long illness.
Kabasakalian, 74, of Nash Road, North Tonawanda, retired from Durez Plastics after 33 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during World War II, stationed in the Pacific.
His wife, the former Mary C. Blarr, is a candidate for the Republican nomination for mayor of North Tonawanda in the Sept. 14 primary election.
In addition to his wife, Kabasakalian is survived by two sons, Thomas of North Carolina and Don Alesse; a daughter, Carol Griffith of Amherst; two brothers, Levon and Lewis, both of the New York City area; two sisters, Victoria DiGirolamo and Mary Erinberg, both of New Jersey; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday in Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda.
