Two persons were arrested Wednesday on welfare fraud charges for stealing a total of $2,563 in benefits from the Niagara County Social Services Department, Sheriff's Investigator John Koelle said.

Vincent A. Jones, 47, of Niagara Street was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, misuse of food stamps and offering a false instrument for filing for allegedly applying for and accepting $960 on cash benefits, $725 in food stamps and $248 in medical assistance he was not entitled to from December 1998 through April 1999, Koelle said. Jones took the benefits without declaring pension benefits he was receiving, he said.
