Marc Anthony says his new English-language album is "just another way of expressing myself."
The salsa singer's foray into pop comes as another local favorite, Ricky Martin, continues to smash sales records with his own English debut. Martin is Puerto Rican, while Anthony was born in New York to Puerto Rican parents.
During a Monday visit to San Juan to promote the album's Sept. 28 release, Anthony told reporters he was not abandoning fans of his three salsa records.
Anthony has sold 3 million albums in Spanish, and his "Contra la Corriente" won a Grammy this year for best tropical Latin performance.
"This is just another way of expressing myself through my music," Anthony said.
