A six-inch garter snake was expelled late Tuesday from the Earl W. Brydges Library after it managed to enter the building and slither down the main aisle.
While it caused no disturbance with library patrons because nobody noticed it, Anne Kelly, computer library services director, said she put a flower pot over the snake, called the SPCA and had it taken away.
"We had to ask it to leave. He didn't have a library card," she quipped.
An SPCA employee easily picked up the snake and said he was going to let it go in a field, she said. The incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m.
