The Niagara Falls Police Department hired two new police officers on Monday: E. Bryan DalPorto, 26, and Salvatore Paonessa, 46.
Both are scheduled to attend the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy in February. They are temporarily assigned to work in police administration until they begin training at the academy, police said.
DalPorto was a former corrections officer with the Niagara County Sheriff's Department and a member of the sheriff's Emergency Response Team. He also has a two-year degree in Criminal Justice from Niagara County Community College.
Paonessa has been a Niagara Falls Fire Department dispatcher for 13 years and operated the Super 6 Sound Co. for radio production and disc jockey work, police said. He also has been broadcasting local news on WJJL Radio.
