Andrew S. Schwind Jr., 63, a retired pilot for USAir, died Tuesday (Oct. 22, 1997) in his Clarence home after a year's illness.
Born in Rochester, he was a graduate of Aquinas Institute in Rochester, Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Md., and the Air Force Graduate Cadet Program. He served as a captain in the Air Force.
He was a captain with USAir and its predecessor companies for 29 years.
He was a member of the Air Line Pilots Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. In addition to flying, he enjoyed boating and skiing.
Survivors include his wife, the former Angela Lanza; two sons, John of Manasquan, N.J., and Robert; two daughters, Susan Scalzo of Rochester and Mary Lou Quandt of Walnutport, Pa.; a sister, Elizabeth Forish of Erie, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 10950 Main St., Clarence. Prayers will be said at 8:45 in Amigone Funeral Home, 8440 Main St., Clarence. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester.
