A man who gave police a statement last week in the baseball-bat beating death of a West Side man was fatally shot in the head Wednesday, authorities said.
William O. "Poochie" Ross, 31, was killed at 8:45 a.m. after he pulled into the driveway of his girlfriend's home in the 100 block of Antwerp Street, according to Lt. William P. Conwall, assistant chief of the Homicide Bureau.
Several people who were witnesses to last Thursday's baseball-bat attack that killed Rajshie Tompkins on Washington Street showed up at the Antwerp shooting shortly after it occurred, leading police to think there may be connection between the two slayings. David A. Williams, 30, was charged in last week's slaying.
