Faye L. Fahnestock, 44, coordinator of the department of radiation oncology at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, died Friday (Oct. 10, 1997) in her Angola home.
A native of Buffalo, she was a graduate of Hamburg Senior High School. She attended Erie Community College, Roswell Park Cancer Institute School of Radiation Therapy Technology and the University at Buffalo.
Ms. Fahnestock started her career as a clinical instructor in radiation therapy at ECC in 1973. She also served as a staff technologist and assistant radio-pharmacist at Roswell Park. She joined the Buffalo General Hospital staff in 1977 as a technologist and served in the departments of radiation oncology and nuclear medicine. She was a senior nuclear medicine technologist in the department of nuclear medicine at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Lackawanna from 1987 to 1990.
She became coordinator of the department of radiation oncology at Brooks Memorial Hospital in 1991.
Ms. Fahnestock was a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-Radiotherapy Technology and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-Nuclear Medicine.
Ms. Fahnestock was an active member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
Surviving are her mother, Patricia Breidenstein of Derby; a sister, Lori of California; a grandmother, Lillian Barrett of Hamburg; and her life partner, Sherry White of Angola.
A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m today in Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home, 4199 Lake Shore Road, Hamburg.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Church of Evans, 7431 Erie Road, Derby.
