Senior citizens in the Broadway-Fillmore and Lovejoy area should deal cautiously with people coming to their residences claiming to be home health care aides, authorities said.
Crooks posing as residential health care aides have been entering the homes of elderly people in those neighborhoods in recent days and stealing money from the unsuspecting victims, according to Detective Sgt. Daniel Dill of the Broadway Station.
Residents were advised by police on Wednesday to carefully check the identification papers of individuals who say they are aides.
"The victims have ranged in age from 72 into the mid-80s and the people stealing the money have been thorough. They know the victims do have aides coming to the homes," said Lt. Duane T. Rizzo, police department spokesman.
