CHARGES DEEMED UNLIKELY IN BOYS' WHISKEY BINGE

Criminal charges are unlikely after two boys got drunk on whiskey they found in an Amherst home, police said Monday.

The boys, ages 12 and 14, were treated in Children's Hospital Sunday and released after consuming an unknown amount of alcohol at the older boy's house on Fairgreen Drive. The boys were there alone after the older boy's father got called into work, said Frank Olesko, assistant police chief.

"They took advantage of him getting called in," Olesko said.

The boys are students in the Sweet Home School District, which announced Monday that a routine investigation is under way.
