Terry Yake scored one goal and assisted on another as the Rochester Americans defeated the Binghamton Rangers 4-1 in their American Hockey League home opener.
After Binghamton's Sylvain Blouin and Rochester's Wayne Primeau traded goals in the first 4:16, Yake set up Ed Ronan's power-play goal at 8:37 for a 2-1 Rochester lead.
Yake then scored his team-leading eighth goal at 16:16 of the second period to extend the lead to 3-1.
Scott Metcalfe scored a power-play goal with 5:02 remaining to cap the scoring.
Rochester goalie Steve Shields stopped 30 shots while Ken Shepard made 39 saves.
The Amerks improved to 7-3-1. Binghamton fell to 1-6-2.
