Fourteen Chautauqua County companies will sign the Niagara Compact today pledging to keep their businesses in Western New York and do everything they can to promote the region.

The compact, which was unveiled in March 1995 and signed by some major employers in Erie County, is designed to show that local companies are committed to Western New York and willing to help promote the region in their markets.

Signing the compact will be: Acu-Rite, Jamestown Container Cos., Weber Knapp Co., Dawson Metal Co., Jamestown Electroplating Works, Anderson Screw Products, Allied Industries Division of the Resource Center, Ulrich Planfiling Equipment Corp., Cummins Engine Co.'s Jamestown Engine Plant, Fancher Chair Co., Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Dowcraft, Ellison Bronze and D.C. Rollform.

The companies will sign the compact during a noon luncheon at the Acu-Rite plant in the Mason Industrial Park.
